Everything in This Picture Is Windy
The Page of Swords is the most restless image in the deck and the weather is doing most of the work. A young figure stands on a grassy rise holding a sword upright in both hands, blade pointing at the sky. Their body faces one way while their head is turned to look sharply over their shoulder in another. The clouds behind are ragged and moving fast, the trees are bending, and their hair and clothing are blown sideways. Ten birds fly in the upper sky. The ground beneath is uneven and green, and there is nobody else anywhere in sight. Nothing has happened yet and nothing is settled. This is somebody alert, poised and looking in two directions at once, which is exactly the state the Page of Swords describes.
A Blade Held With Both Hands
Look at how the sword is being carried, because it tells you about experience rather than intention. It is gripped with both hands and held vertically, which is the posture of somebody who has not yet learned how heavy it is. The blade points up rather than at anything, so this is potential rather than attack. That twisted stance, body one way and head the other, shows a mind moving faster than the feet can follow. The wind is the suit of air made visible, and here it is unsettled rather than clear. Those birds high up represent thoughts, and there are more of them than any single person can track. The uneven ground means the footing is not yet secure. And the empty landscape says this is a stage you go through mostly on your own.
Something Wants Investigating
When the Page of Swords appears, your curiosity has caught on something and it deserves following. You want to know how a thing works, why somebody said what they said, what the actual numbers are, whether the story you were told holds up. That instinct is worth acting on rather than dismissing as nosiness. Ask the question directly, do the reading, look up the source, request the document. Information gathered now will matter more than you expect, because here usually arrives just before you need to know something properly. Write down what you find rather than trusting memory. They are usually young in the role rather than in years, and they say the thing everybody else was avoiding. That is genuinely valuable and it makes them exhausting in small doses.
